Kandersteg International Scout centre

Kandersteg International Scout Centre is the World Centre of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement. The Centre serves as an accommodation and outdoor activity Centre and it is located in the heart of the Swiss Alps. It was founded in 1923 and has been in operation ever since, led by an international team of scout volunteers. Every year, over 13,000 guests from 50 different countries are welcomed at the Centre. In addition to accommodation and catering services, this Scout Centre also offers a wide range of adventure, educational and outdoor activities. Kandersteg is literally the Mecca for members of the Scout Movement, as it was founded by the Scout Founder, Lord Baden Powell.

Our goal

Our goal was to create a visually attractive website clearly mapping the complex offer of accommodation, catering and additional services along with a detailed overview of over 200 leisure activities. All of these services can be conveniently selected and booked, and we have also taken care of linking the accommodation services with the internal booking system. The website also serves as a tool for promoting positions for volunteers. The applicants can respond to currently opened positions via an integrated application system tailored to the needs of the Centre. We chose a timeless, original and user-friendly design so that the planning of an alpine adventure by the guests was simple, attractive but also rich in information.

ACTIVITY WISHLIST

Activities can be filtered according to several, essential parameters for the users. For those who are interested in a particular activity, it is possible to look at a comprehensive detail of the activity, with the possibility to save it to the Wishlist and then to the order form.
CLEAR OVERVIEW OF ALL ACCOMMODATION CATEGORIES

The accommodation capacity of the Centre is 355 beds in four different buildings and 1200 places on the campsite. The presentation of the accommodation is now organised in a simple and understandable way, with clear information architecture and linked online occupancy calendar for each building type. We managed to do it all on one page!
VOLUNTEER APPLICATION PLATFORM

The Center offers over 35 different volunteer positions. These can be filtered by interest, the current status of the opening position and the length of the volunteering period. Potential applicants can leave their email address to be informed whenever the position that they are interested in opens. When a position is opened, it is possible to apply for it by filling in an integrated application form. The results are collected and organised in the backend. After submitting the form, the system automatically sends emails to the candidates with more detailed information about the selection process and securely stores all data with the possibility of exporting selected candidates' information. This feature saves a lot of time for the Management team who had previously spent a lot of time on administrating applications and communicating with candidates.
