Kandersteg International Scout Centre is the World Centre of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement. The Centre serves as an accommodation and outdoor activity centre and it is located in the heart of the Swiss Alps. It was founded in 1923 and has been in operation ever since, led by an international team of scout volunteers. Every year, over 13,000 guests from 50 different countries are welcomed at the Centre. In addition to accommodation and catering services, this Scout Centre also offers a wide range of adventure, educational and outdoor activities. Kandersteg is literally the Mecca for members of the Scout Movement, as it was founded by the Scout Founder, Lord Baden Powell.

Our goal

The centre is established as a non-profit organization. Anyone has the opportunity to support his idea of non-formal youth education through international scouting by joining the Center Association. Our goal was to create an internal membership management software tailored to the specific needs of the Centre. The users can use the form to select different types of membership with a specified annual fee. Besides an option to manage the membership details by users, this module also offers other ways of engagement in the Association life, e.g. registering for events, monitoring the Association's news, browsing fellow Member profiles, or donating on specific projects of the Centre. The system not only manages the Members of the Association, moreover, but it also allows all the past volunteers to connect, manage their staff history and actively engage in the activities of the Centre.

    The Membership Payment Zone allows previewing the current membership status, the full membership fee history, along with the option to upgrade a membership. Members can choose a different payment method, set the credit card recurring payments or financially support the Centre‘s fundraising campaigns.


    The Center organizes various events and campaigns for specific Member categories. Thanks to our solution, members are automatically notified about newly created events and with an option to directly sign up for it. Volunteers managing these events thus have an organised overview of all event participants and their details.


    Former volunteers have the opportunity to record their volunteering history in the Centre as they often come back and work in different areas of operation. Besides managing their staff history, engaging in the Centre’s activities, connecting other fellow staff members the aim was to bring together the community of volunteers from around the world and to give them the opportunity to share experiences.


    Users have the option to choose different levels of their profile visibility to other Association members or former volunteers. If the user allows at least basic visibility, they can get browse other profiles of the Members.
